Making a Difference in Maine
What is Maine PBIS?
Maine PBIS is supported by a State Leadership Team comprised of University of Maine System faculty, Maine Department of Education specialists, and Northeast PBIS and Maine PBIS endorsed external coaches. In addition, Maine has a PBIS Advisory Panel comprised of school administrators and staff, family members, Maine Department of Education specialists, and representatives from a range of agencies supporting youth and families in Maine. Maine PBIS supports many SAUs and schools state-wide.
Maine PBIS is an active body, focusing its attention on dissemination of information from APBS to support policy and practice alignment with relevant research, and implementation of PBIS across Maine schools. Consistent with these interests, Maine PBIS:
Provides training in positive behavior support practices through the development of training materials and embedding positive behavior support content in relevant professional certificate and degree programs
Works closely with many school districts to support PBIS implementation through training and coaching
Hosts a state-wide conference every year
Completes an annual State Systems Fidelity Inventory and Action Plan to guide our work
Informs the Maine Department of Education of new and changing APBS policy and guidance documents
Conducts quarterly Advisory Panel meetings
